Rosie’s Everest Kitchen Review

Hey, flock! I hope you’re staying warm out there (I’ve been giving the radiators in my house the full workout.)

Yesterday, a friend who just came back from Texas called me up for dinner. Naturally, we decided to brave the tundra on an adventure.

While trying to figure out what restaurant to pick on Niagara Falls Boulevard, we noticed a new restaurant: Rosie’s Everest Kitchen!

Considering the mild blizzard we were driving through, it seemed like a restaurant called “Everest Kitchen” was quite fitting.

Rosie’s is named after a young nurse who passed away in 2021 from cancer. In order to honor her memory, Rosie’s family decided to open a restaurant of her favorite foods. The original Rosie Restaurant was in Rochester, and Everest Kitchen just soft opened a few weeks ago, meaning we were lucky enough to be some of the first people in Niagara Falls to try their wonderful food!

Rosie’s menu is a combination of Nepali and Indian items, with a fairly wide variety of options for every flavor. You can also choose your spice level which is fantastic.

We started off with an order of veggie samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

For the main course, my friend decided to go with a comforting dish of Butter Chicken (ordered medium heat). They noted that it was a good flavor, with a flavor that was a bit more “tomato-forward” compared to some of the overly-buttered options sometimes seen here in the Falls. They also noted that the medium spice level was still clearing their sinuses (which is a plus this time of year).

Meanwhile, I decided to go all in. I knew what I wanted as soon as I looked at the menu: lamb.

Yes: the cartoon sheep of Niagara ordered a sheep dish.

Specifically, I steered right into the Lamb Rogan Josh. I impulsively ordered it spicy, most likely due to my attempt to rapidly defrost from the Lake Effect outside.

Flock, this might’ve been the best lamb I’ve had in my life.

The lamb itself was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth tender, while the spices of the curry created a wonderful complexity of flavors.

For those of you that are used to more tourist (read: American) heat levels, order medium. When they say spicy, they seriously mean it. This was great for me since it not only warmed me up, but also because it slowed me down enough to enjoy the flavors.

Most entree options at Rosie’s are served with basmati rice. We also ordered some naan so we could scoop up all the extra sauce, and also so I could cool off my mouth when the three glasses of water started failing me. Luckily, the attentive staff were quick to refill water and bring over extra rice.

If you’re in the mood for South Asian food and want something absolutely exceptional, definitely check out Rosie’s Everest Kitchen. They’re located in Pine Plaza at 8207 Niagara Falls Boulevard, right here in Niagara Falls NY.

Also, I just want to thank all of you for hanging around. 2024 was an absolute bear of a year, and I’m looking forward to relaxing, refocusing and re-energizing this year. See you next time, flock!
