Any writer (blogger or otherwise) will be quick to tell you their favorite companion: coffee.
There’s nothing quite like a fresh cup of java and a little pastry to get the creative juices flowing. It certainly helps when the cafe you’re in matches the vibe.
Luckily, we have Misty Guild Cafe.

If Misty looks suspiciously familiar to readers, that’s because it is. This wonderful oasis is located at the former site of Daredevil Records, a favorite haunt of mine. In fact, Misty has become a very frequent hangout spot for me in the last few months, effectively becoming a second home base.

For anyone who has stopped by, it’s not hard to understand why this place just works. Like the name suggests, Misty Guild Cafe is truly a love of three things: Niagara Falls, nerd culture, and the perfect cafe menu.

Most days, the counter is manned by Tony, who is a strange chimera much like the cafe. Tony always has a smile on his face, and is quick to start up a conversation. Much like a barkeep in an RPG, you immediately feel like he’s been friends with you your entire life.

It certainly helps that the cafe has a wide gamut of excellent baked goods. Tony’s homemade “Pop-Tarts” have been a crowd favorite since day one, alongside his rotation of cobbler bars, scones, biscotti, banana bread, and muffins.
If you’re feeling particularly hungry, the cafe’s full menu features salads and sandwiches, which are absolutely stunning. His Strawberry, Turkey & Brie Grilled Cheese is one of his top sellers, while I personally love his Grilled Caprese Panini (which features a pesto mayo that is highly addictive.

Of course, the most important part of a cafe is coffee, which Misty Guild has down to a science. Their drip is light roast (which has more dynamic flavor according to Tony), while their espresso is dark roast. There’s a full assortment of flavors, creams, milks, and whatever else you might want in your cup. For you tea lovers, he also has a rotation of tea, matcha, and chai lattes. Pretty much everything can be made hot or cold to your liking, and Tony is very willing to experiment to match your taste.

While you’re enjoying your latte, there are plenty of games and books available.

There’s also a “Quest Board”, which features things to go out and achieve. If you complete one, you get a discount.

Misty also features some locally-made merchandise (and I have a very exciting development regarding that, so keep an eye on my social media).

With all of this to offer, you can understand why I spend so much time here. This little spot on 324 Niagara Street is a hidden gem here in the Falls, less than four blocks from the State Park.
The only question left is what pastry should I get today?
Have something you think we should write about? Leave a comment! Thanks again for supporting us as we celebrate all the great things in Niagara Falls, NY.
