Let’s write a love song about a NatGeo documentary!
This week we’re reviewing Toto’s 1982 elementary school geography exam “Africa.”
This is not a song, this is what happens when a group flips to Africa in an encyclopedia.
I’m not kidding: this song was apparently written after watching a documentary and making a song about a white person describing Africa using only that info.
I mean what’s next? A song stereotyping a random city in a random country in Asia?
…Note to self: you found next week’s review.
Getting back on topic, with the exception of the lyrics being horribly chunky and pointless, “Africa” is musically quite decent. It’s not too bad of a song.
That being said, the lyrics are terrible.
