What? Another Puffins reviews? Nobody saw that coming!
After reviewing Cinnamon Puffins, I caved. I bought myself a box of Peanut Butter Puffins to compare.
The first clear difference in Peanut Butter Puffins is the lack of wheat. These puffs are very much corn, and the texture is quite different.
The scent out of the box is actually quite peanut buttery. Unfortunately, that’s where the peanut butter ends.
Do you like tortilla?
I don’t mean the flower tortillas used to make burritos: I mean the corn hard shell El Paso things you get in a box.
I just ate a bowl of taco shells.
I can’t possibly imagine what the “original” plain flavor of Puffins is. The peanut butter version barely tastes of peanut butter, and any hint that exists is overpowered by the very heavy corn taste of the cereal. The cinnamon one doesn’t have this problem; I assume that’s because of the wheat, as well as the fact that cinnamon is a strong flavor.
These. are. weird.
Now, I’ll probably continue eating them. It’s not the worst cereal I had. The worst cereal was Keebler cookie cereal. It actually tasted like Cheese Puffs. I sent the UPC back with a complaint, and got a free box of (mediocre) Special K.
If you’re attempting to pick between the cinnamon and the peanut butter Puffins, FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD PICK THE CINNAMON!
