Hey flock! If you’ve spent any time reading this blog (or living in WNY), you know we have amazing food.
Our food culture is insane, and you can literally find amazing eats just about everywhere…
…even a comic book store.

Pulp 716 is the definitive comic shop in the region. In fact, Pulp has two locations: one in Lockport, and the other in North Tonawanda.
What makes Pulp 716 so unique is its built-in Bubble Tea and Hot Chocolate shop. This is their main draw for me (their Butterbeer Bubble Tea is absolutely amazing with a blueberry Boba).
But we’re not here to talk about Bubble Tea or Comics. We’re here to talk about these:

This is the Plankie, a trademarked, mythical pastry.
According to legend, the Plankie was conceived of by Pulp’s owner, who was desiring a dessert creation that did not yet exist.
Basically, the Plankie is the offspring of a donut and a pastry heart. The pastry is filled with either lemon or raspberry filling, and topped with white icing.
Of course, that rather blunt description does not do the Plankie justice. It truly is an item that is more than the sum of its parts.
The Plankie is also a special item due to its rarity: it is only available on Fridays, and always sell out. For a comic store, this “special release” dessert fits wonderfully.
Now that you’re absolutely dying to try the Plankie: they can be found on Fridays at either Pulp 716 Lockport (47 East Ave), or North Tonawanda (41 Webster St).
Trust me, you won’t regret it.
