Oh no: Sheepie bought a house

Hey Flock! Remember back in March when I said I’d be posting more on the blog?

That aged like milk, but I have a very good reason to have fallen off the map…

I BOUGHT A HOUSE.

Help. Me.

Okay, let me rewind a bit. Since March of last year I’ve been living in an apartment in North Tonawanda (which meant it really stunk when Pulp 716 closed.)

This was the trade deal I made with my partner, who I really wanted to start living with since we’d been together for three years at the time. I gave up my beloved Niagara Falls for my beloved partner.

Well, fast forward literally one week, and I get a year-round job in Niagara Falls. For the first time in my life, I was a genuine commuter.

I despised it.

Luckily, my partner wasn’t particularly fond of apartment life either, so we decided to start house hunting like we were in an HGTV show.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the housing market isn’t particularly wonderful for buyers right now. I wasn’t expecting much.

Certainly not serendipity.

Back when I first started dating my partner, we would walk by this absolutely beautiful house from the 1920s up the block from their family. I always joked that it was our future home.

Flock: it’s our home.

The house, located right in the heart of the City of Niagara Falls, went on the market shortly after my last blog post. Since then, everything’s kinda been a blur. I now know an almost absurd amount of things about early 20th century homes. I’ve had to repair plaster lath, quote out support beams, learn about mortar compositions in 1920, source textured light green carpet (don’t ask), and hear so many contractors say “I’ve never seen this before in my life” as I laugh/cry into my bank account.

It’s all worth it.

I’m home.
