Tonight’s topic: Artificial Intelligence

There was a fantastic article in AdvertisingAge discussing five jobs that are going to disappear due to artificial intelligence and automation. I’m not going to spoil it for you, just go read it.

The idea of the machines taking over has been fodder for conspiracy theorists (and Hollywood) forever. People are obsessed with the robot uprising. It’s insane.

Technology is getting a bit scary. Machines aren’t perfect at imitating humans, but they’re getting better. You probably found this article due to Google’s AI systems collecting posts like this for your viewing pleasure.

To be honest, I’m not really into technology. I like C-3PO, and I can name a bunch of real AI robots from the 90s (Kismet was wild), but that’s about it.

I don’t think robots will take over. I also don’t believe in this “singularity” thing where computers are as smart as us, and we become part machine. People like me are still angry at Apple for removing the headphone jack from their phone: we’re a long way from the robot revolution.
