Dirty Bird Catfish Special Review

Hey flock! How many of you love the Dirty Bird food truck?

Probably a lot. As of writing, they have over 10,000 likes on Facebook.

Well, they finally opened a brick-and mortar location on 6004 Buffalo Avenue. It’s connected to River Pub, and I learned they were opening Dirty Bird way back when Lexxi Raine played there.

Of course, the pandemic went and threw everything out of whack, but Dirty Bird finally opened.

Of course, to fill in that Friday market, they decided to make a new twist on the beloved Fish Fry.

Dirty Bird Catfish Special

The Catfish Special consists of two pieces of fried Catfish, four pieces of chicken, fries, slaw and cornbread. It looked amazing online, so I just had to try it.

Unfortunately, the day I ordered they were out of cornbread (which I entirely blame on myself for ordering so late!) Still, this was amazing!

The catfish was excellent, being far moister and more flavorful than your typical haddock (which they also serve, by the way). It was breaded as opposed to beer-battered. Since I prefer breaded anyway, it worked for me. The chicken was good, which you would expect from Dirty Bird, and the fries were nice. The slaw had a kick of horseradish that gave it a good zing, and made it a great palate cleanser.

If you’re looking to switch up your Fish Fry game, I definitely recommend Dirty Bird. The takeout orders were flying out the door when I went, so I definitely suggest ordering early.
