Hi flock! Since we can’t travel to Italy, we’re making due here in Niagara Falls at the Bella Vista Ristorante with some amazing wood-fired pizzas.

Bella Vista has a wide selection of pizzas in addition to their full dinner menu, but my heart instantly settled on the original pizza: the Margherita.

In case you need a refresher, this pizza is named after former Queen of Italy Margherita of Savoy, with the sauce, mozzarella and basil representing the colors of the Italian flag.

Bella Vista’s Pizza Margherita is worthy of this long history. The mozzarella was firm but smooth, the sauce was delicious with a slight kick, the crust was light and crisp, and the fresh basil was beyond superb.

I was planning on having a couple slices and taking the rest home. That didn’t happen: I devoured the entire pizza as I overlooked the Niagara River.

If you’re looking for a great wood-fired pizza, I can’t recommend this enough.
