Last week, we asked “what even is the Eastern Hills Mall?” Continuing on this trend, we’re taking a look at the Boulevard Mall in Amherst.

The Boulevard Mall has come a long way since it was built in 1962 (it was Buffalo’s first indoor shopping mall). It was recently purchased by Sinatra & Co. at auction, with possible plans to become a Town Center (I’m noticing a pattern here).
In the meantime, the Boulevard Mall is a quirky in-between mall: it has more traditional anchor tenants than the Outlets, but not nearly the amount of the Walden Galleria.
The mall is also missing a food court, which was replaced by Dick’s Sporting Goods a few years back.

The retail apocalypse has been taking its toll on the Boulevard, with empty storefronts becoming increasingly common.

Of course, Claire’s has managed to stay afloat.

The Boulevard Mall is a part of WNY history, so I definitely recommend checking it out while it’s still here in its entirety.
