Pho Cali Ginger Chicken (Ga Xao Gung) Review

Hey flock!

It seems like every day, Niagara Falls is getting more and more food options to cater to our worldwide travelers. The joy of living in a tourism hub is that we’re treated to a wide variety of options your average town could only dream of.

Case and point: Pho Cali opened last year on Pine Avenue.

Technically known as Pho Cali II (the original is apparently in Elma), the name works double with Cali here being the second Pho place here in the “Little Italy” (read: food junkie) strip of Pine Avenue.

I’ve already spoken at length about the other Vietnamese restaurant, but obviously I had to give Pho Cali a try.

Real talk, flock: this was my second order from Pho Cali. I actually had rare beef pho takeout from them a couple months ago (it was very, very good). However, I wanted to sit down and try something on-site. So, I sat down underneath the Maid of the Mist photo and ordered the ginger chicken stir fry.

Ginger chicken stir fry at Pho Cali II. Niagara Falls, NY.

Having genuinely fluffy sticky rice warmed my heart after an afternoon hike, as did the smooth and sweet ginger sauce on the chicken. The veggies were at just the perfect crispness, and the chicken was flawlessly cooked.

On top of the food, the joy of the restaurant was nice. It was quiet, with only one other party (although there is plenty of room for more), but the staff were absolutely kind. Pho Cali is fairly laid back in character, which instantly puts you at ease.

If you’re looking for a nice Asian restaurant here in the Falls (with good pricing as well), I certainly recommend giving them a try.

Pho Cali is located at 1915 Pine Avenue right here in Niagara Falls, NY. They’re open 7 days a week for dine-in and takeout.
